My wife and I see over 100 movies a year, having been in the business and now retired. WE DO NOT READ ANY REVIEWS BY ANYONE. WE TRY TO TELL OUR FRIENDS THAT A CRITIC IS ONE PERSON, HE OR SHE IS NOT US. Critics are also a dying breed as newspapers disappear. Therefore, our critique is not biased and based on actually seeing the movie in a theater. Many critics see the movies 5 at a time in a viewing room. Not a real atmosphere to gauge audience reaction. How can you review a movie without the real deal? This movie is just deliciously funny. It is not an Academy Award movie it is just plain fun <more>
from start to finish. All we want is 2 hrs of getting away from the real world. That is the sole purpose of a movie. Keep your attention and have fun where possible. It is full of silly, dumb things but it will leave you breathless from laughing so much. The chemistry between Heigl and Kutcher is fantastic.Go and see it based on us, we are real people in the real world.
I thought this movie was a fantastic, upbeat, lively, and quite humorous way to present an action/romance film. It was the most perfect combination of Action-related fight sequences and explosions and Romantic-related love interests and cuteness. My initial thought was,"Oh my gosh who directed this? It was amazing!" then I just assumed that there had to be two directors one who was primarily action-focused and another romance because that was too good for one person! The script had a few cheesy parts like all romantic comedies do but other than that I thought the writers were <more>
right on. I would have to compare it to one of Katherine Heigle's best romantic comedies combined with Mr. and Mrs. Smith But done better, funnier, less intense, less stupid, and more interesting . It was the first well-done action/romantic-comedy in a long time and it will probably stay that way for a long time.
Funny, upbeat, with plenty of action. (by Celestial_Star_)
I enjoyed watching Killers and can't understand why it is getting such bad reviews. For one thing, I thought it was hilarious, especially the parts where Spencer and Jen were just getting to know each other.Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigle portray likable characters and seem to fit their roles well.I like the romantic comedy parts of this movie the most. The action was a bit cheesy, but it made the movie all the more lightweight and funny. There were a few plot twists at the end that I didn't exactly get- maybe if I watched it a second time I would figure it out. But, despite these <more>
I went into the movie theater not really knowing anything about the movie except it was an action and it had Ashton and Katherine in it.The movie seemed more real to me, like the neighborhood was used well and the office and everything seemed like how it would of played out in the real world. I really liked how the lived in a simple neighborhood and didn't live in New York City like every other movie. I also like seeing other actors/actresses in the movie that i haven't seen in a while like Lisa Ann Walter and Alex Borstein. The movie was all set at a nice pace it started out in nice, <more>
France and slowly worked its way into what i think it was Georgia, USA.
the film is just good fun. Anyone who complains just has the mentality of all the other stupid brain washed people who think its so easy to make a movie. Killers was a simple idea about a hit man who is trying to make it in life as a normal suburban guy. The film isn't meant to be taken seriously its just one of those films that makes you smile and have a good time watching it. The comedy wasn't laugh my f-ing ass off funny but it had the awkward real life humor that you find your friends saying and it just comes out wrong. In the end the film portrays the rich as backstabbing and <more>
greedy assholes. Im not sure I'm the only one who noticed. The movies great, Ashton kutcher was surprisingly great in this, and I loved it to the fullest. Watch it as it is, a great fun action flick.
FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN x More Fun 3.7? (by richenstony)
OK when i first saw the rating on this title , me and a online friend both said to ourselves , the public must be right , well are they? HELL NO THEY Ain't.This film was fun , sexy , cool , and very well acted , apart from the alcoholic mother *Catherine O'Hara* , this movie was a great pop corn flick , its like all of the people who went to view this expected some kind of film made by Steven Hawkins , so stop increasing your expectations you god dam nerds , and enjoy the movie for what it is , good old spy comedy! Oh on a completely different note , its worth going to see this movie <more>
Very good light weight date movie that has a combination of action and comedy that will leave both partners smiling. (by brian-1068)
If you want to watch this movie and enjoy it you will need to go into it expecting the right kind of movie. It is an action/comedy summer date movie. You'll have a good time. Not the time of your life. It's not True Lies. It's not Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Just like Katherine and Ashton aren't Arnold and Jamie Lee or Angelina and Brad. Here you have two actors who are still building their careers and finding their way. They are both enjoyable to watch. Though you can tell Ashton is less experienced at this than Katherine, he still does a credible job.Ashton, surprisingly to me, plays <more>
the action scenes rather credibly there's that word again . I had expected less. Katherine grows into it - pretty much as you would expect given her character's background. And it was simply delightful to see Tom Selleck and Catherine O'Hara lending their capable touches to this. Though I wish the writer s had given Ms. O'Hara more to do.So, do you want to take your date to a good movie where you can chuckle and occasionally laugh outright and leave smiling? This movie will serve you well.I would give this a 7.5 but fractions aren't allowed. So, I rounded it up to an 8.Go. Enjoy. You'll remember the date longer than you'll remember the movie. But so what?
For the sole purpose of entertainment and some laughs (by Rodrigo_Amaro)
The current queen of romantic comedies Katherine Heigl meets with the current king of romantic comedies Ashton Kutcher and the result is "Killers", a romantic/action/comedy film with some laughs and an almost abusive amount of clichés per second. Here's the scenario: Jen Heigl meets Spencer Ashton , the perfect romantic match for her while vacationing with her parents played by Catherine O'Hara and Tom Selleck . They marry, everything's okay until she finds out Spencer's previous job as a professional killer, and now he's being persecuted by other assassins <more>
who happens to be some of their own neighbors. Spencer's tasks are to save his and her wife's life, solve the mysteries behind who is chasing them and, of course, save their marriage which is now at risk and other surprises to come. This is hardly a original work but there was something new there I found funny, although some might see it as something ridiculous or something that it's not funny in a good way, and that is Kutcher performance as a killer ! . I mean, it's extremely difficult to believe that he can play a strong and super intelligent character who kicks some ass and knows codes, complicated terms and all. The action scenes are quite good but when he's quoting codes, getting touch with his superiors, these moments are quite laughable and unbelievable the problem is that we don't know if he says those things with the purpose of making us laugh or he's not so convincing as a killer . It's not that bad as many demanding viewers are saying it is, it has its good and bad moments and manages to be just a fun and watchable film, nothing more. Lately, we're seeing this exactly procedure: take Katherine Heigl and one handsome actor in a comedy, then you have a movie "27 Dresses" along with James Marsden, "Life as We Know it" teaming with Josh Duhamel, Gerard Butler in "The Ugly Truth" and now Kutcher in "Killers". And somehow she always stays on a good level delivering nice performances while her partners, depending of the film or the script might be good or just average. I wish I could say the same about Ashton but most of the time the materials he chooses are so similar that it's hard to say when it's good or bad, and if he was the good thing about the project or not. Here, they were okay together, have some chemistry but the sparks doesn't fly that high In comparison, Catherine O'Hara playing the drunken mother of Katherine, was funnier than the main couple together .Perfect for those enjoy routine comedies with some action and romance but not much substance in it. 7/10
